Mommsenstrasse is the renovation of an Altbau building in Berlin, comprising six apartments developed through a series of precise interior interventions rather than a total formal overwrite. The project works with the existing spatial order of the building, inserting new domestic infrastructures as compact architectural elements within the historic shell.

Freestanding joinery volumes, integrated storage, deep-toned glazed tile, and soft transitions between enclosure and opening define the apartments from within. Kitchens and bathrooms are conceived as dense material cores, while the surrounding rooms remain light, quiet, and spatially legible.

The intervention is less about contrast than calibration — introducing a contemporary interior language that sharpens the atmosphere of the Altbau without dissolving its original proportion, rhythm, or domestic gravity.
